The Sabos

Our trip to see the Sabo's was one that was planned for many months and prayed over for just as long.  We last saw them three years ago before they moved away to Pennsylvania.  Becky is a friend that is so very near and dear to me.  She is the type of friend that every girl should have.  She is honest, loves the Lord, and is down to earth.  She is the type of friend that will tell you like it is, in love, even though you may not want to hear it.  She is also the type of friend that is okay with not speaking on a weekly basis, she understands how busy life can be with three children.  But no matter how much time had passed between phone calls or visits,  we are able to pick up where we left off.  She listens and does not judge.  Our visit wasn't nearly long enough.  I hope we don't go another three years without seeing one another.  I think our kids will be sure THAT doesn't happen.  They enjoyed their time together as well.
My kids RAVED about Calvin's fried chicken for days!

The boys: Blake, Nic, and Parker

The girls: Kaleigh, Maddie and Gabby

Becky and I made chocolate covered pretzels, one of my favorite things to do with her when she was in CT.  She also made some chocolate covered marshmallows that the boys were happy to pose with.

This was her crazy cat, Wheezy,  that attacked just about all of us!  It was hysterical to watch.

Valentine's Day Fun

I decided to have a few fellow homeschoolers over for a day of fun and SOME learning. We started off with a few crafts that another mom had prepared, beautiful stenciled votives and festive snow globes.

After that was completed, we moved into the living room for a mini science lesson on the heart.  After the kids needed to take the books and write a few facts on a heart shaped piece of paper that they had learned about.

By this time, tummies were rumbling.  So, we headed back into the dining room to create a yummy treat.

Our final activity was a math activity that allowed them to use their skills of finding coordinates.  It was like battleship, but with candy hearts.

It was a fun day and I am blessed to have such great friends that jump in and make our parties fun and educational.

Week 7

Sunday February 12th
I had purchased hoof boots for Nick and he wore them twice before they were destroyed.  Easycare was more than cooperative and send me a new boot to replace the one that is somewhere in the mud along with two new gaiters.  They get an A+ for customer care!

 Monday February 13th
Parker couldn't wait to make valentines for our homeschool Valentine's Day party.  He looked up the design himself and worked so hard on them.

 Tuesday February 14th
We had five other kids join us for some educational fun.

Wednesday February 15th
The kids spotted the first robins in the yard.
Thursday and Friday, February 16th and 17th
We finished packing and cleaning, loaded up the car and headed out.
 Our first stop, Pennsylvania.

 Saturday February 18th
We headed out to Olympic Fun Center, where they had laser tag, rollerskating, rock climbing, bounce houses, arcade games, and food.

Week 6

Sunday, February 5th
It is a rare thing in my house when I win a game against my hubby, especially one that involves strategy, so I HAD to document it!

Monday, February 6th
Blake had to take over dish duty for his sister this week and he is fabulous at it.

He had this routine and actually shines the sink when he is done.

Tuesday. February 7th
My blog book came in this week!!!!

Blake wasted no time checking it out. I had another picture of the two boys looking at it, laughing at the memories in it, but it was too dark to post.  It was a perfect reason of why I blog, to see the joy the have of the memories we have made that may otherwise be forgotten.

Wednesday, February 8th
The kids got a care package in the mail from Memere and Pepere in Florida!  I figured we could sent this back to them!

Thursday, February 9th
One of the joys of homeschooling is that no one tells you that you have to sit at a desk while doing your math! You can do it while laying on the dog and still get it all right!

Friday, February 10th
Last year, I collected money from parents to thank our coaches for the time they volunteered to our youth every week.  I hadn't even thought about it this year, until I was approached by a parent asking if I was going to do it again this year.  Ummm,  there is only two weeks left in the season, and one of which I am going to be away....but hey, I love a challenge, so, sure why not!  I went home and worked on making sure this was ready to pass out at Saturday's game.

Saturday, February 11th
The coach is giving the team a pep talk between quarters.  They won 18-6.

Week 5

Sunday January 29th
Kaleigh and I went to RI for the baby shower of one of the cousins on the Sharp side.  I was almost a two hour drive for us, but SO worth it to see such GREAT family.

Did I mention that while all us girls were at the shower, all the boys were back at Great Grampy's house playing basketball??  So amazing to see four generations out there playing together.

Monday January 30th
The house was a disaster, which makes Eric grumpy (me too, really, but sometimes we are on the go so much that it gets away from me).  Seeing the guy is working almost 70 hours a week,  I decided to make a real effort to make the house look good for him and make sure he doesn't have to sift through a laundry basket to find clean clothes.  So, after just three subjects, the kids and I went on a cleaning spree.  Parker and I did 6 loads of laundry and washed windows.  Blake vacummed all the rugs and Kaleigh did the kitchen. Then, we took out our Valentine's decorations.

Tuesday January 31st
With temps like this...I would be sunbathing too, if I had the time!

Wednesday February 1st
I got nothin'!

Thursday February 2nd
These two are all about basketball these days.  We don't have much in the way of TV, so Parker can often be found watching the latest televised highschool game on CTSN.

Friday February 3rd
I dropped Kaleigh off at the church at 8am for her very first Snow Camp.  I then prayed all the way home that God would use this time to speak to her and show her how much she means to Him.  That she would grow closer to Him in her teen years.  And that God would surround her with the very best friends that would love her unconditionally and encourage her in the Lord.  Here she is with her friend Natalie, just before they left.

Saturday February 4th
We went to RI to visit my aunt.  Paco, the dog,  provided the entertainment for the day.
