Week 15- The Flu

Sunday April 8th
Our family Easter photo

Monday April 9th
It was a windy day and the kids wanted to go fly the kites they got for Easter.  Unfortunately, I stink at kite flying.  We were unable to get the kite in the air.  The day got worse from there as Blake started running a fever.
Tuesday April 10th
This is where Blake stayed for the entire day.  His fever was close to 104 at one point with Tylenol in his system.  With cold compresses, I was able to get it down to 102, within a matter of minutes.

The rest of the week just is a blur.... Blake wasn't sleeping, he was weak. In three days all he ate was a cup of soup and two slices of cantaloupe. Thursday morning around 12:30, Kaleigh woke up with a raging fever. Followed by Parker later that morning. It was quite clear to me at this point that we were dealing with the flu. Liquids, tissues and a mask were on the menu. My mom was a lifesaver, dropping off things on the doorstep and running.

It is now Saturday morning and they are walking around and fighting.  That is a good sign.  The true test will be this afternoon and evening- which is when their fevers tend to spike and they get lethargic.  Hopefully I can get some food into them, and I don't get it!

Easter

Happy Easter!  After a beautiful church service, we headed to the in-laws for lunch and the annual Easter egg hunt.

We celebrated Uncle Mike's 50th birthday.
                                               Kaleigh snuggling with Aunt Sharon.
Two of my handsome boys catching some Z's.
Blake snuck a kiss on the cheek to Great Grammie.
In the afternoon, we took of so Kaleigh could go do her job of letting the animals out and feeding them.  Blake just loves this chicken.  I have to admit, he is very cool for a chicken.
After that, we went to my mom's to see my grandmother and aunt who was here from RI.  They were playing a card game and Pepere let Parker take his place for a while.  After, we had a discussion on the topic of gambling.  I wanted to see what he thought about it.   I was glad that he lost more than he won because his words were "It was kinda fun, until I lost"  We discussed the dangers of gambling and how many people have gotten sucked into it and lost their homes, cars, etc. as a result of becoming addicted and using gambling as a way to try to get rich quick.

Week 14

Sunday April 1st
This was quite a day!  Eric was up and at the church by 7:30 am to run sound.  I awoke to find that he had prepared several pranks for me, none of which he got me on.  Honey, if your reading this, it is best not to reuse the same pranks year after year or try the prank I got YOU with last year.  The kids and I were at church by 9am for second service.  After church was over, we helped tear down the stage and get it ready for cantata rehearsal.  We finished around 1pm, headed down the street for grinders, and were back at church by 1:40.  There we stayed till 6pm.  My hubby however, needed to stay and do sound for service and choir practice for Easter Sunday service....so he did not get home till after 8pm.  Talk about being at church more than home!

Monday April 2nd
Kaleigh finally cashed in her Christmas gift and got new boots for riding.  Thanks Memere!
Tuesday April 3rd
Finished book two of this series by Karen Kingsbury.  Fabulous read and the first time I have read a fiction book where the gospel was so clearly given.

Wednesday April 4th
Kaleigh went to meet the animals that she will be sitting for next week.
Speckles the Chicken and Sandy the Dog.

Thursday April 5th
Egg decorating!

Friday April 6th
Opening night of the show!  It is so nice to serve the Lord along side my children.

Saturday April 7th
We decided after much discussion that we would make our resurrection rolls today, because it would be another late night with the show and we would want to sleep in as much as possible on Sunday.
I can't believe that at 12, 9, and 8 they STILL beg to make these!
