Parker's All-Star Tourney

Parker's all-star tournament started on Wednesday March 6th.  He had a 7:45pm game, which made for a late school night.  They played one of the toughest teams, Columbia, and at the beginning of the 2nd quarter something terrible happened....they lost their biggest and best player.  He went up for a lay-up and came down wrong and broke his ankle...DONE!  It definitely through everyone for a loop.  Jack was their go-to guy.  They didn't have the confidence they did going into this tournament anymore.  Everyone went home with head hung low that night.

Thursday night they faced Norwich, which was another tough loss for them.  The coaches sat them down and talked to them about the importance of playing as a team and looking to guys they may not have looked to previously.  Friday's games got cancelled because of the snow so that left them playing three games on Saturday.

After a day off, they came ready to play.  They played their hearts out and ended up winning two out of their three games.  Because of Jack's injury, Parker and his teammates found that Parker can be a go-to guy as well.   He ended up being the leading scorer for two of the games.   His high score to beat next year is 13 points in a game.

Although the team only came in fourth place, Parker, along with the rest of the team, stepped up their game and played with all of their hearts.  For that, we couldn't be prouder!!!!

After playing 9 games in 4 days all I can say is.....goodbye basketball....see you next year!

Blake's All-Star Tourney

March 1-3 were nothing but a blur.  Blake and 7 other kids got picked to go to the all-star tournament.  There were 5 games in three days. They met some fierce competition, playing against teams they have never met up with.  Some games Blake got a great deal of playing times and at other times, he did not.  Through it all, he never complained.  I was so proud of his attitude regardless of how much time he saw on the court.  He was clearly happy to be there with all his friends....They all played great and came in third place! Next year he moves up a division and will be playing with his brother.  That will be a blessing for me...instead of 5 nights of basketball, I will only have 3!  YAY!

Waiting for his next game with a few of his teammates

                                                         After the tournament

After the tournament, his coach treated everyone and their family to pizza down the road.
