November

We hit the ground running in November with basketball starting on November 2nd.  Parker is playing both school ball and rec ball.  That means basketball practices 6 days a week, some being double practices for four hours!  I did not get many pictures in this month.  The one new and exciting thing was that we got another horse.  She is a four year, free lease, that we will be caring for while her owner is away at college.  She is a Fjord and a sweetheart.  Kaleigh and her get along very well and Bucky is pleased to have a girlfriend.

November 3rd- Teen Service
Kaleigh really enjoys being part of the skits.

November 4th- Our new addition to the family…Jera!
I have to tell the story of how Jera became part of our family because it was a Divine intervention.  We had been looking for another horse, but nothing seemed to be coming about that we could afford.  We went to Charlie's Fun show back in October where there was a horse for sale.  His name was Kid.  Kaleigh tried him and liked him, so we kept an eye on him during the show.  He ended up launching his rider off.  He was out!  Then they announced this little lady that was for lease.  Leases can get tricky.  Some people only lease on farm, some only for the winter, plus she was a pony.  Ponies typically can't handle heavier riders.  But my mother urged me to talk to the owner because she was cute.    The owner was a 19 year old girl who had had Jera for the past four years.  She was going away to college and realized that she could no longer afford board.  She wanted her to go to a home with a little girl, but being a draft horse, many of the people who were interested in her, could not handle her strength.  I also learned that this horse could handle a full grown male, because she is a draft.  We decided to go further and took the 1 hour and 45 minute trek to Mass to get to know her better.  Her trainer was there, as well as the owner.  After spending the day there, we all agreed it was a good match.  Her owner wanted to come to our home to see where Jera would live for the next four years.  They were pleased with our home and barn and we signed the papers and brought her home!  The best part is that she was a free lease, which meant I did not have to purchase her.

November 11th- Cross Country Banquet.
The boys did well for their first year running cross country.  Parker was in the top 7 and was invited to States!!!!

November 19th- Eric grading the paddock with his new toy.

November 28th- Kaleigh pet sits for Pumpkin.
