Schooling Horse Show

Yesterday was Kaleigh's first show of the season. She woke up bright and early at 6:30 am and we headed out to the farm. She scrubbed Pride till he sparkled.

Then, we loaded him in the trailer and headed out. I was very nervous, as this was the the first time I had trailered a horse. Bonnie (the horse trainer) followed us to the show and said that I did very well. Pheeww! I must say I learned a lot. I learned the proper way to tie a hay bag. I learned that when trailering one horse, you always load and tie them on the left. I learned how to tie a quick release knot.

Kaleigh ready and waiting for her class to be called.

There were four kids in her Western Equitation and Pleasure classes.

Kaleigh won two first place ribbons, one in Western Equitation and one in Western Pleasure. She also placed fourth in the trail class.

It was a long and tiring day. We ended up leaving the show by 12:30pm but didn't get home till 3pm. It took almost two hours to unload everything and clean up, but it was a GREAT day!

Slammin' Saturday

This past Saturday 5/15 was so busy, I don't know where to begin. Hmmm...let's see. I'll start at 7am, the time I woke up. The first hour was ironing, making breakfast and lunch and sending my hubby out the door to work. I then turned my attention to getting the kids ready and out the door. By 8:30am we were on our way to help an elderly man we know get himself and his boxes of belongings to a community tag sale. After we had him set up and settled, we headed to the church for a day of fun. All three of my babies completed the requirements for the Gold Level in Olympian group. For anyone who is not familiar with Olympians, it is the name of the program we use for our youth group on Thursdays. The children have a quiet time they must keep up with, as well as a book report, memory verses, and Christian Service Assignments. Our treat for the children who made level was a day with 3 different bounce houses and slide.

Some of the leaders had the privilege of nailing some kids with water balloons via a sling shot. I'm not sure who enjoyed it more...the grownups.....

or the kids.

Tug of war was also a big hit. We played children.....

versus leaders...........

The kids did a scavenger hunt and completed the day with a goodie bag.

After our fun was over, we grabbed a quick bite to eat and headed back to re-pack our elderly friend and bring him back home. On the way we spotted a sign for 'Farm Day' and decided to stop by.

The kids enjoyed the animals and demonstrations. They especially liked the weapons demonstrations and spent about an hour shooting bows and other weapons.

How's that for a fun filled Saturday?

Project 365- Week 20

Friday May 14th
Blake decided he wanted to be like his Daddy, 'Cletus' and put a heart and Walmart tattoo on his arms. I was not happy about the fact that he wrote all over himself with permanent marker but like the saying goes....Monkey see, monkey do. And I thought it was adorable that he wanted to be like his Daddy.

Saturday May 15th
The kids enjoyed a treat of bouncy houses, a scavenger hunt, tug of war, and much more. This was their reward for completing gold level requirements at youth group.

Sunday May 16th
After church we all worked in the garden, clearing it out and expanding it.

Computer Crash

As you can see I have not posted in a while. My computer crashed and it has been in the shop for about three weeks now. I have my daughter's laptop, but downloading the pictures from my camera is just not the same, and is much more time consuming, so I have not done it. I am hoping that once I get my pc back I will be more in the blogging mood. But until then, no more Project 365 :(
