Mothering and Memories
As a mother, I sometimes wonder if what I am trying to instill in my children is getting through to their hearts and heads. This week was a good week for this mother. On the way into Stop and Shop Blake took it upon himself to stop at the Salvation Army bucket and put a in the few dollars that he had in his pocket. I was so proud, I almost cried. They are understanding God's love through giving.
The next event that warmed my heart was a writing prompt that I gave the kids for school. They were to write about their favorite Christmas memory. I figured they would write about their favorite 'thing' they got for Christmas. Here is an excerpt from each of their writing.
Kaleigh wrote about the year she got her kitten and ended her story like this..."We open our presents, but the greatest gift of all is eternal life and Jesus Christ."
Blake wrote..."My favorite Christmas memory is Jesus being born. We read about that on Christmas morning."
Parker wrote... "Last Christmas I had lots of fun but it's all about Jesus' birth. That is my favorite part about Christmas. That and having family over and putting the ornaments on the tree. I like to play Christmas songs on my guitar and everyone sings along."
It is nice to know that they get the TRUE meaning of Christmas and that some of the memories they hold dear are not the 'stuff' they get, but the memories we make as a family.

Project 365-Week 47
Sunday November 14th
After church we went to Eric's parents for lunch and to visit with Great Gammie and Grampy who were here from RI.
Monday November 15th
Kaleigh has her first dog-sitting job! The kids are in love with Bailey and fight over who is going to feed him, hold him, and take him out to do his buisness. I haven't had much involvement other than taking him out to do his buisness at 11pm before I hit the hay.
Tuesday Novembember 16th
We ended our Marine Life Unit and headed to the Mystic Aquarium for a field trip. FUN! Here are the kids at the Ray pool.
Wednesday November 17th
Kaleigh's 4-H group had an award ceremony. Her award was for having good sportsmanship.
Thursday November 18th
It was mask night at youth group...Here is my mask I made.
Friday November 19th
Bathtime!
Saturday November 20th
We spent the day with my grandmother hitting all the Holiday/Craft Bazzar's that were in the area. I offically got my Christmas shopping started and knocked two people off my list. I couldn't pass up this t-shirt for 5 bucks! I use this phrase ALOT!
1 Peter 3:10 says "Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech."

Project 365- Week 46
Sunday November 7th
The teens ran the evening service at church. They did an awesome job! This was, by far, the funniest skit. These young men were part of a bubble wrap popping support group. The point was they were trying to make is that the real help comes from Jesus, we can not do it on our own.
Monday November 8th
The first snowfall of the year! Parker wasted no time getting out there!
Tuesday November 9th
Took the kids to Mad Science...but forgot to take my camera...oops!
Wednesday November 10th
For the month of November I try to have the kids begin their school day by writing down something that they are thankful for. This is our second year doing this project. We make this chain and then hang it on our Christmas tree. I was surprised to see their enthusiasm this year. I guess this tradition is a keeper.
Thursday November 11th
Although it was Veteran's Day, the kids continued with their schooling and later that afternoon my mom took them to see Secretariat at the theatre.
Friday November 12th
We had friends over for dinner. Here everyone is watching a Ladies Banquet skit, that Eric was in, on the PC.
Saturday November 13th
Happy Birthday Aunt Micki!
(This picture was taken on Sunday when we went to visit her)
