Fuse Festival

My music minded man found out that there was going to be a Christian music festival in Rhode Island at McCoy Stadium on Memorial Day and thought it would be fun to spend a day there as a family.  So we packed a lunch, drinks and lawn chairs and headed out.  We got there at 11:30, just as the concert was starting, and were blessed to find a spot in the shade under a tree.  The first band in the line up was a local group called Awakening.  They were not my style of music and I was busy getting everyone situated and finding a bathroom.  Next on stage, was Adam Cappa.

I loved his music and his voice and will definitely be getting some songs of his off itunes in the near future.
After that, The Letter Black came on.  They were a heavy metal band.  Anyone who knows me and Eric, know we can't stand heavy metal.  We took the opportunity to go to the car and eat lunch and sit in the ac for 45 minutes or so.  Next, came the guy I was dying to see... Jonny Diaz.

His voice is soothing and his lyrics are touching.  He certainly has a gift in the songwriting department!  He actually is quite the comedian too, which I didn't know when listening to his music before the show.  I now get to listen to him often, as I bought both his CD's.

The main attraction was The Sidewalk Prophets.

I have to say this band was amazing.  They play a range of different genres of music that I think ALMOST anyone would enjoy.  Our whole family LOVED them and we ended up getting a CD, which the kids play over and over.   All five of the band members autographed the CD.  The kids think it was cool that they got to meet all artists they listened to.  Sidewalk Prophets definitely have the ingredients to be BIG someday, I'm talking Casting Crowns Big!

Here Kaleigh is with Dave, Cal, and Shaun from Sidewalk Prophets.
After the concert, we headed into the stadium to catch the Pawtucket Red Sox game.  On the way I found a picture of Jacoby Ellsbury and HAD to get my picture with his.

The boys were funny, the last few innings they went down and sat on the first base line and tried to get the players and ball boy to throw them a ball.  They didn't have any luck though.

It was a great day spent with great music and the people I love most, my family!

Week 21

This week was a whirlwind, with getting ready for the church tag sale, doctor's appointments and being taxi for my children's various events.

Sunday May 20th
After church the kids enjoyed the water slide, while Eric burned brush and I vacuumed and washed floors.

Monday was a whirlwind with home school classes in the morning, watching a friend's kids in the afternoon so she could go to the doctor, painting tag sale signs and a meeting a church in the evening, followed by an 8:30pm softball game.  No pics :(

Tuesday we drove an hour to check out a horse trailer on Craigslist...nothing but rust :(

Wednesday May 23rd
We went to the library and for a walk around The Green.  Poor pup is getting old...this is where he crashed.

Thursday May 24th
Blake decided to make brownies for a snack and Chef Parker was right there instructing him every step of the way.

Friday May 25th
Found another book series that Parker is actually interested and reads without being told.  Diary of a Wimpy Kid.  He has even convinced his brother to start reading the series.

Saturday May 26th
Another CRAZY day!  Out of the house at 9:30am to bring Kaleigh to a parade that her 4-H group was marching in.

Then I flew to church to get the boys to their activity.  They earned laser tag for making gold level at youth group.

Then headed to a bridal shower.  Got home about 5:30, to start supper and start my normal Saturday routine....putting clean sheets on the bed :)

Week 20

Sunday May 13th
Happy Mother's Day!  I certainly got spoiled, with each of my children picking out their own gift for me.  From Blake I got this sign for the mudroom:
From Parker I got a new Red Sox hat:
And Kaleigh picked out this flower decoration.  I love it on the side of the fireplace and want to get another one for the other side.

Monday May 14th
Our new fascination while doing school.

Tuesday May 15th
Hubby repainted the living room!  This was one project he has actually finished in weeks time, rather than years time.  You go baby!

Wednesday May 16th
Kaleigh has started back up trying to take the right photo for her 4-H photo contest.  I will post them all in another post.
Thursday May 17th
Parker and Blake made gold level!

Friday May 18th
The boys worked with Grampy over at the land, in the afternoon, picking up rocks.  Grampy took us all to Canterbury Cones afterward.

My "I'm too cool to stick my head through one of those cut outs" girl!
                                                     Never too old...that's my motto!
                                                           Thanks Grampy!!!!

Saturday May 19th
Relaxing on the hammock that Eric bought me.

Kaleigh's Photography

Kaleigh has decided she is going to enter the photography contest at the 4-H fair again this year, so she has been taking lots of different shots.  Here are her flower shots.  I like number 3 and 7.  Feel free to give her feedback on which one you think she should enter...Lisa  ;)

Week 19

Sunday May 6th
The dog looks like he has his arm around Blake...too cute!

Monday May 7th
The day Eric and I met (started dating) 14 years ago.  What a man to remember and celebrate the day you met!

Tuesday May 8th
Kickball in the rain!

Wednesday May 9th
The mom and dad of our next pup.  Now we just have to convince Daddy by September.  Australian and German Shepherd mix.

Thursday May 10th
Scrabble Flash.  It helps them with spelling and they don't even realize it.
In the evening we headed to church to see the Destiny Africa Children's Choir.  If you don't know their story, here is the short version.  These are a group of orphans, who travel the country to perform and raise awareness and funds for the orphanage.  It was a blessing.

Friday May 11th
Eric and I were up and out by 7:15 to get free wood that was on the side of the road just a few hundred feet from our house.  Three pickup trucks later, we had sore back and a couple cords of wood.

Saturday May 12th
Ladies Banquet!!!  I look forward to this day all weekend long.  Our CFC guys work SO very hard to bring us great food and great entertainment.  This year was no different.  I am blessed to be a part of such a great church that focuses so strongly on service and missions.  Here is a picture from my favorite skit.  An interview with the Disney princesses.

Week 18

I cleaned out the car on Tuesday and found my camera!  YAY!

Monday April 30th
Parker had been right in the middle of cooking Ramen soup when we had to leave to bring Blake to the dentist.  As we were sitting in the waiting room, it dawned on me to ask him if he turned the stove off.  "I can't remember," was not the response I wanted to hear.  I ended up calling my neighbor who went over to check things out for me.  He had, in fact, shut it off.  Phew!!!  And thank God for good neighbors that I can call in case of an emergency.

Tuesday May 1st
When our house was built 9 years ago, the thermostats were not placed in very good places.  The down stairs thermostat was placed right next to hot water pipes and does not read an accurate temperature as a result.  The upstairs thermostat is right at the top of the stairs, where all the heat from downstairs goes.  That one will not kick on unless you have the upstairs temp set higher than the downstairs temperature.  So when one died, Eric thought it was a good time to move them both.   Now I have two holes in my walls, that need to be patched and repainted.  Let's see how long this project takes to get completed.  The mudroom project from 7 years ago STILL isn't completely finished.

Friday May 4th
We had friend's over for dinner and a game of Catch Phrase.

Saturday May 5th
A busy day!  Kaleigh met her Keeper's of the Home group at the farm and did a horse demonstration.  She talked about the different brushes, showed the girls how to tack up a horse, demonstrated the different gaits and them gave them a ride.  After that, we went back to our house for lunch and a soap making class led my my dear friend Deb.  Then I dropped the kids off at their various locations and got ready for my date!  A coffee house band and the movie Avengers.  It was nice to get out with the hubster.
