The kids and I woke up at 6am and headed out to NYC. I wrote all about it in a separate post.
Sunday December 4th
Did I mention I am now teaching Jr. Church on some Sunday evenings. We are going to be studying the Ten Commandments. What is better for a bunch of 3-7 year olds than edible Ten Commandments?
Monday December 5th
Kaleigh baked her first chocolate cake from scratch this week. I was in and out of the kitchen and happen to come in when I saw her digging in the baking powder with a regular spoon. I made sure that she knew that she needed to use a measuring spoon and not a regular kitchen spoon if it calls for a teaspoon. She told me she knew and then said, "Wait it calls for a teaspoon , not a cup?" Oh boy! Glad I caught that mistake, but what other mistakes had she made while I was not present? I had no idea what the cake was going to taste like. I must report it was the most delicious and moist chocolate cake I have ever eaten! Good job Kaleigh!
Tuesday December 6th
Happy 94th birthday to my grandmother! We took her out for lunch and spent the afternoon with her.
Wednesday December 7th
Kaleigh's 4-H group had their Christmas party. I let Kaleigh have the camera, but didn't have much to choose from in the way of pictures. This lady in the stripped shirt is one of her leaders, Mrs. Brett-Davis.
Thursday December 8th
I had my best friend over for tea and some girl talk. I am so grateful for her. She will listen to me vent, cry with me, and pray with me in the hard times and laugh till we cry in the good times. Too bad I was so busy gabbing that I forgot to snap a picture..oh well I love you Mrs. Awesome! :)
Friday December 9th
The kids went to see the lights in Hartford with their grandparents, while Eric and I did some Christmas shopping. Here is a blurry shot of the Statue of Liberty in lights that Kaleigh took. Their descriptions of it all makes me want to head out there. Maybe I'll take my grandmother some evening.
